HILLSBORO, Kan. –
Lillie Veer and
Kalep Crane have been named as this week's Hillsboro Ford PowerJays of the Week for their efforts during last week's action. This marks the third straight week and third time this season that Veer has received this award, and the first time Crane has been honored.
HILLSBORO FORD FEMALE POWERJAY OF THE WEEK: LILLIE VEER, WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Lillie Veer is a Sophomore from Newton, Kan.
Veer's monster week helped the Bluejays to a 2-0 record on the week, picking up key conference wins over Ottawa and Evangel. Wednesday night at Ottawa, Veer poured in 28 points, leading the Bluejays in scoring and leading all athletes from both squads in scoring, shooting 73.3% from the field and 57.1% from behind the arc. In Saturday's win over Evangel, Veer added 15 points and five rebounds, once again leading the team in scoring.
HILLSBORO FORD MALE POWERJAY OF THE WEEK: KALEP CRANE, MEN'S BASKETBALL
Kalep Crane is a Senior from Simsboro, La.
Crane showed just how much of a scoring threat he is this past week, hitting the 30-point mark not once but twice over the course of both contests played, averaging 30.5 points per game. Crane came cruising out of the gate in Wednesday's action at Ottawa, exploding for 20 in the first half and finishing with 30, shooting 78.6% from the field and going 2-3 from three-point land. On Saturday, Crane proved that Wednesday's stat line wasn't a fluke, adding 31 more points to his total for the week, shooting 61.1% from the field.
