HILLSBORO, Kan. – The Tabor College Athletic Department and Sports Information Department have announced the creation of the first-ever Hillsboro Ford PowerJays of the Week award. This award is given to a male and female Bluejay athlete that demonstrates excellence in their sport the week prior.
The recipients of the first Hillsboro Ford PowerJays of the Week award are
Sammie Saunders and
Christian Tuiasosopo.
HILLSBORO FORD FEMALE POWERJAY OF THE WEEK: SAMMIE SAUNDERS, VOLLEYBALL
Sammie Saunders is a Junior from Lehigh, Kan. majoring in Health and Physical Education Teaching and K-12 Education.
Saunders finished the week with 55 kills, with a 3.06 kill per set average, with 64.5 points in total after her performances in matches against Baker, Mount Marty, William Penn, Hannibal-LaGrange, and Culver-Stockton. Saunders currently ranks seventh in the conference in total points, with 96.5 on the season and sixth in the conference and total kills with 82.
HILLSBORO FORD MALE POWERJAY OF THE WEEK: CHRISTIAN TUIASOSOPO, FOOTBALL
Christian Tuiasosopo is a Senior from Copperas Cove, Texas majoring in Criminal Justice.
Tuiasosopo snagged two key interceptions totaling 30 yards and taking one back to the house for a pick-six in Saturday's win over McPherson. He also tallied seven solo tackles during the contest.
