BAROCIO CONCLUDES OUTSTANDING 15-YEAR CAREER AT TABOR

HILLSBORO, Kan. – Tabor College Director of Athletics Jeff Brewer has announced that Erin Barocio has resigned her position as Assistant Women's Basketball Coach and Senior Woman Leader to take a position in the private sector outside of coaching.

Barocio recently celebrated her 15th year of service at Tabor during the school year. Throughout those 15 years, she served in a variety of roles. Her time on staff began in the fall of 2010 as she was part of the first Graduate Assistant cohort, following her academic and athletic career as a Bluejay. With experience came new roles and opportunities, as she served as the Interim Campus Recreation Center (CRC) Supervisor, Athletic Department Administrative Assistant and Presidential Leadership Director of Fellows.

While a member of the Bluejay Women's Basketball staff, she had the opportunity to mentor and develop some of the best players to wear a Bluejay uniform; players including interior All-Americans Zoe (Shieldnight) Rust, Tonisha Dean, Janelle (Rust) Goodrich, Tena Loewen, and most recently: Kloe Bowin, Madie McCoy, and Alyvia Owens. Her time under Head Coach Shawn Reed also included four regular season KCAC titles, six KCAC tournament titles, and eight trips to the NAIA Tournament.

At the beginning of the 2024-25 school year, Barocio was named Senior Woman Leader for the department and was tasked with developing and mentoring other female leaders across the department.

"Erin's greatest strength has probably been her ability to model Christian living and mentor literally hundreds of Tabor students, especially young women in our basketball program," remarked Head Women's Basketball Coach, Shawn Reed. "Erin has invested a great deal of time and talent into helping build our program and for that we are extremely grateful.".

Erin will continue to reside in Hesston, Kan. with her husband Manny and their three young children. Her new job will allow her the ability to work from home and spend more time with her husband and active children.

"She will be greatly missed, and we appreciate everything she has given to Tabor", said Reed.

"Erin has done a tremendous job at Tabor", reflected Brewer. "She has impacted the lives of so many student-athletes throughout her time here. She has been a positive role model and mentor for all the young ladies that have come through the women's basketball program. Coach Barocio has been a great influence on the team, program and the athletic department. We wish her blessings and continued success as she moves forward. Erin will be missed."
