FLASHBACK FRIDAY: TYLER ZINN'S HISTORIC SCORING

HILLSBORO, Kan. – Just over one week ago, Kalep Crane rose to the No. 2 spot in single-game scoring in Tabor College history, pouring in 46 points to help down Bethany in a thrilling overtime contest. Crane's point total put him in the conversation with several other Bluejay greats who had achieved similar scoring feats, like LeRoy Dick, who still holds the record with 50 points in a game against St. Mary of the Plains back in 1961. Other names come to mind like Ron Regier and Lance Carter, but there is one name more recent that made a similar splash against the Swedes.

Tyler Zinn came to Tabor for the final stop in his college career after playing two years at Fort Scott Community College in southeast Kansas and one year at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo. Zinn spent time in Olathe and Marion growing up, playing basketball at both Olathe South High School and Marion High School.

Zinn was a natural scorer, averaging close to 20 points per game in his career at Fort Scott, and instantly made an impact in his first outing in a Bluejay jersey, dropping 45 points in the Bluejays' 2019-20 home and season opener against Webber International (Fla.). Fittingly, he doubled the feat in the final game of his career against Bethany, downing the Swedes at the buzzer, 89-88.

The 45 points scored by Zinn puts him third in the record books in single-game scoring and etched into Bluejay history forever.

The Tabor College Sports Information Department is showcasing former athletes and/or their respective teams throughout the 2024-25 school year in the new Flashback Friday series. The goal of this series is to bring recognition to the alumni that helped build the Bluejay Athletic Department into what it is today, as well as to create excitement for the current athletic programs here at Tabor.
