RESERVE BASEBALL DROPS TWO AT FRIENDS

WICHITA, Kan. – Bluejay Reserve Baseball had been on a roll with splitting series' leading up to today's doubleheader at Friends University. The Bluejays ended up falling short in both games, as the Falcons would go on to take both.

Game One: The Reserve Bluejays would find themselves in an early hole and would need to find a way to get back into the game. Tabor would find a bright spot in the 5th Inning with Connor Flynn scoring a two-run double to give the Bluejays some late momentum. Ultimately, the Falcons would go on to take the first game, 6-3. Boone Hicks recorded his first loss of the season on the mound.

"All of our pitchers threw pretty well", said Head Reserve Coach Drake Girard. "Hitting started out slow but picked up in the 5th, Connor Flynn came up big for us in the 5th with a double scoring two runs. Brendan Buseman also made some great plays at third base saving multiple runs. Overall, we have to get the bats going earlier in the games if we want to be successful."

Game Two: The second game would look different, as the Bluejays would find their offense, but that would end up not being enough as Friends would squeak out with the win, 8-7. Pryce Holloway would record his first loss on the mound this season for the Bluejays.

Coach Girard was more optimistic after the second game, "Marshall Gilstrap gave us a solid chance to win allowing one earned run and two unearned runs. He has really impressed me and I really like the grit he has on the mound. He's not afraid to attack any hitters. Our bats picked up early scoring us 4 runs in the first 4 innings. Aaron Dimit executed a perfect squeeze but with bases loaded picking himself up an RBI. Connor Flynn also picked up a couple RBIs as well. Over the last couple of games, we have seen a lot of improvement and I feel like we are still moving in the right direction."

The Reserve Bluejays will be back on the road for a doubleheader at Bethany College next Monday, March 4th. The first pitch of the series will take place at 1pm.
