RESERVE BASEBALL OPENS SEASON AT MCPHERSON, SPLITS SERIES

MCPHERSON, Kan. – The Tabor College Reserve Baseball team opened their season yesterday on the road with two games at McPherson College.

Game One: The Bluejays would squeak out a win over the Bulldogs in eight innings, 3-1. Connor Flynn was the highlight on offense for Tabor as he would drive in two runs after hitting a double in the 8th. Marshall Gilstrap would start on the mound and Wyatt Samuels would close and get the win.

Head Reserve Coach Drake Girard had this to say about the first game, "Our pitching was amazing. Marshall Gilstrap gave us a solid five inning outing and only allowed one run, and Wyatt Samuels came in and shut them down for three innings. Hitting was a bit slow, but it was the first game of the Reserve season. Conner Flynn hit a two-run double that gave us the go ahead lead in the 8th."

Game Two: The Bluejays would fall in the second game and split the series with the Reserve Bulldogs, 12-4. Boone Hicks would get credited with the loss and Tabor would drop to 1-1 overall.

"Our defense was amazing in both games, and we saw some really good things despite the score", said Coach Girard. "Nick Bennett threw two scoreless innings, and that was a big highlight."

The Reserve Bluejays are back in action this afternoon and will face the Larks of Hesston College. The first pitch of the first game will be at 1pm.
