LEAVENWORTH, Kan. The Tabor Bluejays traveled to Leavenworth, Kansas on October 15th to take on the University of St. Mary Spires, hoping to even out their conference record. The ladies dropped three sets at home to the Threshers last week.
Head Coach Casey Quiggle said "We had a good mindset entering tonight. And that showed as we had a strong start. Some untimely errors affected momentum throughout the night. It's hard to overcome mistakes when momentum isn't consistent on our side."
Set one started off great for the Bluejays and played the Spires close all the way to the end but the Spires got a lead, losing 18-25. During set two, St. Mary got ahead quickly but the Bluejays didn't hold back cutting the lead down yet still falling short, 17-25. In set three, it looked very similar to the last two with the Bluejays catching the Spires lead but just didn't have enough to overcome, losing 18-25.
"We talked as a team after the game and pointed out we need to be willing to grow and change; we can't continue making the same mistakes. We're coming to practice on Monday ready to work and improve" said Coach Quiggle.
A few that stood out were Sophomore, Sammie Saunders had 7 kills. Junior, Valarie Allen had 4 blocks. Senior, Emma Rhodes had 19 assists. Senior, Kenna Brandes, and Junior, Naera Tschus both had 10 digs.
This puts the ladies at 2-5 in the KCAC and 10-10 overall. The Bluejay's next game will be on Wednesday, October 18 in Lindsborg, Kansas at 7:00 p.m. against the Bethany College Swedes.
Tabor College is a Christ-centered institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas. The Bluejays are members of the NAIA and compete in the KCAC.
