HILLSBORO, Kan. The Bluejays took on the Ottawa Braves on October 7th in four sets but fell short. The ladies had high hopes to bounce back against the Bethel College Threshers to get back on track.
The Ladies started set one close early in the match but couldn't handle the quick plays from the Threshers and lost, 14-25. Set two looked much better for the Bluejays but Bethel got a lead and never looked back, 17-25. In the third and final set, the Ladies played the best they did all night and just fell short, 21-25.
Head Coach Casey Quiggle said, "We had prepared well in practice and watching film on Bethel. And it showed in the first part of each set. We started strong and things looked good. However, as a team, our passing started struggling which made it hard to set up our offense. As the game went on, our struggles continued. Passing errors and hitting errors were too much for us to overcome."
A few ladies stood out, sophomore, Sammie Saunders with 10 kills. Senior, Katie Lowery with 4 blocks. Senior, Emma Rhodes with 23 assists. Senior, Kenna Brandes with 18 digs.
"Not to take anything away from Bethel but we did not execute and play our game. For some reason or another, we just didn't appear to be in the game mentally. Volleyball is a game where a short memory is essential. In the post-game locker room talk, we made sure to point out the positives and at the same time, discuss the areas we need to focus on in practice in order to improve and play better in our next game" said Coach Quiggle.
This brings the ladies to 2-4 in conference and 10-9 overall. The Bluejays take on the University of Saint Mary Spires on Saturday, October 14th in Leavenworth, Kansas.
Tabor College is a Christ-centered institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas. The Bluejays are members of the NAIA and compete in the KCAC.
