NORTH NEWTON, Kan. – Tabor College Men's & Women's Cross Country returned to action after taking a week off, hitting the trails this time in North Newton and competing in Bethel College's Muthama-Rogers Cross Country Invitational.
"We had a good showing Saturday on a warmer morning", remarked Head Coach
Aaron Yoder. "There were spots that were pretty muddy, but the Bluejays prevailed."
Wade Ratzlaff led the Bluejay men, finishing with a time of 31:07.6, while
Julianna Maxfield helped solidify the Bluejay women's fifth-place finish, taking home a 10
th place medal with a time of 20:27.8.
"Overall, we had eight seasonal bests, two Bethel Course bests, one lifetime best and two top 20 medalists. For the men, this was their first 8k of the season. The Bluejays were led by sophomore
Wade Ratzlaff having a strong race going out fast. On the women's side
Julianna Maxfield led the charge again capping off a top 10 finish and a Bethel Course PR. Coming in with another medal finishing performance was senior
Adrienne Selzer good for a 20th place finish. Other standout performances were seniors
Lauren Aden and Kyle Arnold. Lauren ran the same time in her 5k that she ran in the three-mile race at Hutch which really shows progress, and
Kylie Arnold ran a lifetime best in 22:09."
Bluejay Cross Country returns to the course next Friday (Oct. 3
rd) as they are set to compete in the Neosho Invite in Chanute, Kan., hosted by Neosho County Community College.
