HESSTON, Kan. – The Tabor College Bluejays golf teams put together strong performances at the Hesston Spring Shootout, with the men's team finishing third out of nine teams and Valencia Andov securing a third-place individual finish on the women's side.
Freshman Cayetano Morales led the men's squad with a sixth-place finish, posting rounds of 79, 71, 79 for a total score of 229. Senior David Darrah was close behind, finishing seventh overall with rounds of 75, 77, and 78 for a 230 total. The team's collective effort earned them a podium finish, marking a step forward in their season's progression.
Andov continued her impressive season with rounds of 78, 76, and 83, finishing just a few strokes shy of second place. Her consistency across three rounds highlighted her ability to compete at a high level against tough competition.
"I was proud of the team for finishing in third place out of nine teams," said head coach Mike Jamieson. "We are improving, but we still have work to do. Valencia was a few strokes behind a second-place finish and not too far back from another first-place finish."
The Bluejays will look to build on this performance in their next tournament at The Bluffs Golf Course in Parkville, Mo., on Monday, April 7, and Tuesday, April 8. With momentum on their side, both the men's and women's teams aim to continue their upward trajectory as the season progresses.
