McPHERSON, Kan. – The Bluejay Women's Reserve Basketball team found themselves rolling through the second half of their season and on an 11-game win streak heading into the season finale at McPherson College on Saturday. The Bluejays had not lost a game since a Dec. 4 loss to Northern Oklahoma College and had not lost to a team not named Northern Oklahoma since Nov. 16. The Bluejay ladies came into the game fresh off a 72-41 drubbing of Kansas Wesleyan University last Wednesday.
Tabor dominated the first quarter and held McPherson to nine points in the quarter and held an 11-point lead, 20-9.
The Bluejays outscored the Bulldogs yet again in the second quarter, 15-9 and would head into the locker room with a comfortable 35-17 lead that would allow Head Reserve Coach Kate Brickell to breathe somewhat easy and focus on talking strategy with her team at the half.
No doubt whatever Coach Brickell said at halftime helped motivate her team to take a commanding 31-point lead at the end of the third quarter.
The Bulldogs would outscore the Bluejays 18-12 in the fourth quarter but it wouldn't matter, as the Bluejays would roll to a 25-point win to close out their fantastic season.
"From start to finish, the game was very physical and hard-fought", said Coach Brickell. "One of the best things we did was share the ball and work to get our best shot. Everyone had a part in today's big win and I'm really proud of the team's collective effort."
The Bluejays would finish their season with a 16-7 overall record and an astounding 14-0 conference record. Coach Brickell was proud of her squad on their achievements, "To finish the season undefeated in KCAC play is a tremendous accomplishment. It directly reflects the work this group put in and the growth they made over the season. I am excited for the future of our program!"
