BLUEJAYS SWEEP PAST YORK

Hillsboro, Kan.     The Tabor Bluejays had a great past week against the Swedes and Eagles keeping their winning streak alive. On October 25, the ladies took on the York Panthers, never gave up, and are now on a 3-game winning streak.

Head Coach Casey Quiggle said, "We had a little trouble getting started tonight but did well overcoming the adversity in the first set. Once we settled in, it was evident we were in control. Sammie had a solid performance and Fiona hit at a high percentage tonight. Our defense and passing were excellent tonight as well. Valarie, Juliana, Brindelyn, and Katie all had solid games as well. Kenna, Naera, and Tori all passed well and had a good number of digs. After the first part of the second set, we started serving very well with Macy and Fiona going on some serving runs."

The Tabor Bluejays put up a fight against the York University Panthers. For most of the first set, York had a lead but with a lot of determination, the ladies pulled out a win, 27-25. In the second set, the Panthers pulled out a 4-point lead but it wasn't long before the Bluejays caught up and got ahead, winning 25-19. The third set started close for a few points. After some serves, the ladies got ahead and showed grit, winning 25-17.

A few key ladies that contributed to the win include sophomore Fiona Sampaio with 13 kills and 4 aces. Sophomore Sammie Saunders with 7 kills. Senior Emma Rhodes with 35 assists and senior Kenna Brandes with 19 digs.

"I'm proud of the girls and how they continue to find ways to overcome mistakes and stay focused. With Sammie going down in the 3rd set, Emily had to come in and did her job well. We'll pray for Sammie's injury and for her to heal quickly. At the same time, we have to press on in the last three regular-season games. Glad we could get another W tonight and happy for these young women", Coach Quiggle stated.

This win puts their KCAC record at 5-5 and overall 13-10. The Bluejays will take on Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Saturday, October 28 at 2:00 p.m. in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Tabor College is a Christ-centered institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas. The Bluejays are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and compete in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC).
