LADY BLUEJAYS FLY OVER THE EAGLES

HILLSBORO, Kan.     After a good win against Bethany College this past Wednesday, the Lady Bluejays kept their winning streak alive against the Avila University Eagles playing just three sets.

Head Coach Casey Quiggle said, "I'm very proud of these young women. We had prepared well this week and were coming in with some momentum after beating Bethany on Wednesday night. Everyone did their job and we had multiple contributors throughout the game. Sammie Saunders had another solid game on the offensive side as did Juliana Alaniz. Emma Rhodes did a great job setting up her hitters and on the defensive side we had a high number of digs between Kenna Brandes, Naera Tschus, and Tori Maldonado."

The Bluejays came into set one with great energy and communication in order to be successful. They went on a run early in the set but Avila never let up playing them close all the way to the end. The ladies ended up winning set one, 25-19. Set two started out a bit rough for the Bluejays having to come back from a four-point deficit. They picked it up through both defense and offense going on a seven-point run and never looking back, winning 25-18. In the third set, it was a back-and-forth rally between both teams. Once it got to the end the ladies made a run taking set three, 25-20.

A few key players to look at in this win include sophomore, Sammie Saunders with 16 kills and junior, Juliana Alaniz with 8 kills. Sophomore, Bridelyn Schneider with 4 blocks. Senior, Emma Rhodes with 30 assists and 3 blocks. Senior, Kenna Brandes with 22 digs, and senior, Tori Maldonado with 14 digs.

"This team has really shown a lot of resiliency this season and again, I'm proud of how we've responded and persevered. We're going to enjoy the rest of the weekend and get back to work on Monday. We have to prepare for York on the 25th" stated Coach Quiggle.

This win puts the ladies at 4-5 in conference and 12-10 overall. The Bluejay's next game will be on Wednesday, October 25th against York University in Hillsboro, Kansas.

Tabor College is a Christ-centered institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas. The Bluejays are members of the NAIA and compete in the KCAC.
