BLUEJAYS ENGINEER REVERSE SWEEP, DOWNING PHILANDER SMITH, 3-1

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Bluejay Volleyball opened up the Haskell Invitational on Friday evening as they took on Philander Smith. Tabor entered the match after going 1-1 last weekend.
 
Philander Smith caught Tabor off guard in the first set, cruising to a 25-15 set one win. The Bluejays followed that up by rattling off three-straight set wins (25-19, 25-21, 25-20) for the reverse sweep to earn their second win of the season.
 
Esther Nederveen led the way offensively, finishing with 17 kills, her second highest kill total of the season so far. Kingzley Ratzlaff followed with 13 kills. Josephine Fuamatu led the way in service aces, finishing with two, while Jaci Maxfield recorded a team-high three blocks. Defensively, Camila Mendes Toledo led the way with 17 digs, while MaKenna Wamsher had 16 and Annerieke Nederveen had 14. Annerieke Nederveen recorded 43 total assists to tie her season-high, bringing her season total to 259.
 
The Bluejays will have a short turnaround as they take the court again at 1:00pm on Saturday as they face Cottey, and 6:00pm as they face Haskell.
