2026 TABOR COLLEGE HALL OF FAME INDUCTION SPOTLIGHT: LYNN (ISAAC) WIEBE

HILLSBORO, Kan. — Lynn (Isaac) Wiebe established herself as one of the premier female student-athletes of her era at Tabor College, excelling in three sports while building a legacy of consistency, leadership, and competitive success during the early 1980s.

Wiebe arrived at Tabor in the fall of 1980 and competed in tennis and softball throughout her collegiate career before joining the women's basketball program during her senior season, becoming one of the institution's notable three-sport female athletes.

On the tennis court, Wiebe put together an outstanding four-year career, compiling 44 career victories. She led the Bluejays in wins during the 1980, 1981, and 1983 seasons while earning Team MVP honors three times. Wiebe was also a four-year letter winner, providing steady leadership and production throughout her career.
In softball, Wiebe competed during the 1981, 1983, and 1984 seasons and developed into one of the most productive hitters in program history. During her first two seasons, she led the team in batting average with marks of .423 and .405.

Wiebe also helped guide Tabor to postseason competition, as the Bluejays advanced to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics District 10 Tournament in 1981. During that campaign, she helped Tabor secure key victories over Marymount College and Fort Hays State University.

A First Team All-Conference selection in 1984, Wiebe concluded her softball career with a .386 batting average while totaling 27 RBIs, 30 stolen bases, 141 at-bats, one triple, 16 doubles, and one home run. She also struck out only eight times in her career — a remarkable mark that stands as a program record and a testament to her discipline and consistency at the plate.
Considering softball schedules during that era averaged only approximately 18 games per season, Wiebe's offensive numbers become even more impressive in historical context.
During her senior year, Wiebe added a third sport to her résumé by joining the women's basketball team, where she earned a varsity letter and further demonstrated her commitment to Bluejay athletics.

Her all-around achievements were recognized in 1984 when she was named Tabor's Female Athlete of the Year. In doing so, Wiebe followed in the footsteps of then-assistant softball coach Becky Carlson as another standout three-sport female athlete in Tabor history.

Following her graduation from Tabor College in 1984, Wiebe continued to invest her time and talents into both her community and the institution that helped shape her collegiate experience. She married Hank Wiebe in December of that year, and together they built their life in Hillsboro, where they have remained active members of the community for more than four decades.

Professionally, Wiebe held several roles that allowed her to balance her career with a continued passion for athletics and mentorship. She first served as church secretary at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church for six years before spending eight years as a medical transcriptionist at Hillsboro Family Practice Clinic. She later joined the family business, working alongside her husband Hank at Prudent Tours in Hillsboro, where she has spent the past 25 years.

While establishing her professional career, Wiebe also maintained a strong connection to coaching and athletics. She returned to her alma mater on multiple occasions to help guide the Bluejay tennis program, first assisting coach Del Reimer during the fall of 1984 before serving as head women's tennis coach during the 1985 season and later from 1991-94. During her five seasons as head coach, Wiebe compiled three winning seasons and coached three First Team All-KCAC selections, continuing the same standard of excellence she displayed as a student-athlete. She later extended her coaching career to Hillsboro High School, leading the girl's tennis program for six seasons from 2001 through 2007.

Family has remained at the center of the Wiebes' journey. Lynn and Hank have three daughters, all of whom attended Tabor College. Their family has continued to grow through the marriages of their daughters and the addition of grandchildren, with five grandchildren and another on the way.

Throughout the years, Lynn and Hank have maintained a lasting connection to Tabor College and the Bluejay community, continuing to support and attend Tabor events and campus activities.

Wiebe's career remains a shining example of versatility, excellence, and dedication, helping shape the proud tradition of women's athletics at Tabor College while demonstrating a lifelong commitment to service, mentorship, and the Bluejay community.
