HILLSBORO, Kan. – Tabor College Director of Athletics Jeff Brewer has announced that
Thomas Gaskell has been named Director of Soccer and will be serving as the head coach of the Men's and Women's Soccer programs for the time being.
"During his time here at Tabor, Tom has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, a dedication to the mission of Tabor College, and a commitment to excellence both on and off the pitch", remarked Brewer. "We are blessed by the meaningful impact that he and his family have made and continue to make in our campus community and look forward to seeing his continued success in developing our soccer programs!"
Gaskell was named Head Women's Soccer Coach following the 2023 season, leading the program to a 5-8-5 record in his first season back in Hillsboro. 2025 brought big things for Gaskell and the Lady Bluejays, as he guided them to a 12-6-2 overall record and a 7-4-2 conference record, good for a 4
th place regular season finish in the KCAC standings. The 2025 campaign culminated in the program's first trip back to the KCAC Women's Soccer Tournament since the 2023 season, as well as their first time hosting a conference tournament match since 2008, and their first trip to the KCAC Semifinals since 2001.
Under Gaskell's leadership over the past two seasons, 10 student-athletes earned KCAC All-Conference recognition, while 11 Women's Soccer student-athletes earned KCAC and NAIA Scholar Athlete honors, and four were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District selections in 2025.
Prior to his return to Tabor, Gaskell gained experience as a head and assistant coach at both the high school and college levels, coaching at Wichita Independent School and Coffeyville Community College as an assistant coach, serving as a graduate assistant for the Tabor College Men's and Women's Soccer programs, to serving as the head coach at Wichita South High School, Hesston College, and Pratt Community College.
"I am excited for this new role", remarked Gaskell. "I would like to thank Jeff Brewer for entrusting me with that and I hope I can repay that trust by building a soccer program that fits the mission of the college and that everyone can be proud of. I am looking forward to building relationships with the guys on the team and helping them develop as players, as well as hopefully have a positive impact on them as young men."
One of the themes of the Tabor College Athletic department has been that the department as a whole is one big team, and Gaskell hits the nail on the head, "Another thing that I am really excited about is the prospect of both teams supporting each other more and bringing them closer together."
"I love Tabor and what we stand for as a college and as an athletic department. We want to compete at the highest level whilst standing firm in our faith in Christ."
Dr. David Janzen, President of Tabor College, had these words about Gaskell making the transition, "We are so pleased for Coach Gaskell to step into leading the Men's Soccer program. Building on his success with Women's Soccer, he has the vision and skill for both programs to flourish."
The Tabor College athletic department would like to congratulate Coach Gaskell on this wonderful opportunity.
