STANDIFORD SELECTED TO NATIONAL BASEBALL CONGRESS 2026 HALL OF FAME CLASS

WICHITA, Kan. – The National Baseball Congress (NBC) announced their 2026 NBC Hall of Fame Class in November.

Tabor College Baseball Head Coach Mark Standiford has been named as one of the three inductees into this year's Hall of Fame class. Standiford has been involved with the National Baseball Congress for over five decades, making his first appearance as a batboy for the Kountry Tyme team in 1974 and 1975, and transitioning to a player. He played for the Wichita Broncos during the summer of 1985 and won the 1986 NBC Championship with the Anchorage Glacier-Pilots while a junior at Wichita State, scoring two runs in the 11-8 championship victory, and played for various teams through 1996 when he both played for and sponsored the Wichita Sluggers alumni team.

Following his playing career, Standiford transitioned to management, serving as the skipper for the Wichita Braves and the Wichita Sluggers, leading them to multiple tournament appearances. He became the only manager to manage two teams in the same NBC World Series during the summer of 2003 – the Wichita Sluggers and the Wichita Braves.

Success has seemingly followed Standiford everywhere, both as a player and as a coach. He is still one of the best players in Wichita State Shocker baseball history, remembered as "the most prolific power hitter in Shocker baseball history", still holding the career home run record (69) and single-season home run record (28). He has been inducted into the Wichita State Shocker Sports Hall of Fame, the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame, and the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame.

Standiford has served as the Head Baseball Coach here at Tabor College, leading the Bluejays to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) World Series in 2014 and 2015, five Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) regular-season titles, and a remarkable 642-290-1 (.688) record. Under his leadership, 144 players have received All-KCAC awards, 14 have been named NAIA All-Americans, and 18 have played professionally. Among some of the players Standiford has guided to the professional levels is Jacob Webb, who was a member of the Atlanta Braves during their 2021 World Series title run.

The Hall of Fame ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, January 29th, at B-29 Doc Hanger, Education and Visitor's Center in Wichita.

The National Baseball Congress was founded in 1935 and has been hosting the NBC World Series in Wichita, Kansas, for nearly 90 years. The tournament showcases the best amateur baseball talent from across the country and has served as a proving ground for thousands of players who have gone on to professional and collegiate success.
