FLASHBACK FRIDAY: THE 2012 BLUEJAY BASEBALL SEASON, FIRST NAIA OPENING ROUND TOURNAMENT

HILLSBORO, Kan. – 2012 was a special season for Bluejay baseball as they embarked on a journey under Head Coach Mark Standiford that no other Tabor team had gone on before. The team was riding the coattails of a 45-14 season in 2011 and looking to make a splash at the NAIA level. The 2012 season saw the squad roll to a 21-7 record in KCAC action and a 44-15 record overall.

One of the biggest accomplishments from the 2012 season came as the Bluejays earned their first-ever bid to the NAIA Opening Round Tournament. Not only did they earn a spot in the postseason, but they also earned a bid to host one of the brackets for the tournament, hosting the tournament at Hobart-Detter Field in Hutchinson, Kan. After opening the tournament with a first-round victory over Dakota State, Tabor fell to Oklahoma Baptist before bouncing back with wins over Judson and OBU, ultimately falling to Rogers State in the opening round championship game.

The 2012 squad helped the program get on the map in the national landscape, as the team has recorded multiple appearances in the postseason since then.
