WINFIELD, Kan. – Threats of storms across the plains, along with intense wind made for what certainly could have been an interesting day at the ballpark. Tabor entered the afternoon in great need of a win to get things headed in the right direction again. Despite a bit of adversity, the Bluejays prevailed and snapped their four-game skid, keeping the Moundbuilders winless against them all-time.
Game One: W, 13-6
Two bigtime homers gave Tabor an early lead in the first game in Winfield, as
Garryn Plummer smashed a leadoff bomb, followed by a signature two-run homer by
Cody Moore, also scoring
Marcelo Aguirre.
Isaiah Cohens drove in two more runs in the top of the 1
st by way of a two-RBI single, sending
Jared Mack and
Juan Rosa Gonzalez across the plate.
After the Bluejays took a big 5-0 lead in the 1
st, Southwestern added six runs of their own across the next few innings to take a slight 6-5 advantage.
The remainder of the contest was all TC, as the Bluejays added eight more runs in the final innings, highlighted by solo homer from
Marcelo Aguirre.
Tabor earned the much-needed first win of the season over the Moundbuilders, 13-6, giving the team confidence and momentum headed into the second game of the series.
Wyatt Bauer earned the win on the mound.
Cody Moore led the team offensively with four RBIs.
With the win, the Bluejays improve to 24-18 overall on the season and 16-14 in conference play.
