LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – Tuesday saw the Bluejays make their way to the Kansas City metro area as they took on the University of Saint Mary for the final game of the mid-week series between the two teams in Leavenworth on Tuesday. The Bluejays were looking for a bounce-back win to sweep the series, but the Spires had other ideas.
Game Three: L, 10-5
Tabor jumped on the board first in the top of the 2
nd inning as
Mikey Acosta grounded into a double play, advancing
Aidan Martinez to third and sending
Juan Rosa Gonzalez in to score.
The bottom of the 2
nd saw the Spires answer, scoring off an RBI single, followed by an RBI double, giving them a 3-1 lead. The lead was extended in the bottom of the 3
rd, as six additional runs crossed the plate, bringing USM's lead to eight, 9-1.
Four Bluejay runs scored in the top of the 4
th, with two of those runs courtesy of a two-RBI single by Martinez.
Chris Sieg recorded his first RBI as a Bluejay with a sacrifice fly to the Spires' right fielder, sending Martinez home.
One final run came in for the Spires in the top of the 6
th as the Bluejays fell, 10-5.
Zaid Flynn was charged with the loss on the mound, bringing his record to 1-2 on the season.
Aidan Martinez tallied two RBIs to lead the team offensively, and
Chris Sieg provided the only other Tabor RBI.
With the loss, TC falls to 23-18 overall on the season and 15-14 in KCAC play.
The Bluejays are back in action on Friday as they hit the road and will head southeast to Winfield to take on Southwestern College in a three-game conference series.
