BLUEJAYS FALL IN GAME THREE, DROP SERIES TO COYOTES

HILLSBORO, Kan. – Bluejay Baseball looked to bounce back after a less than desirable day on the diamond on Saturday. Some offensive firepower on Kansas Wesleyan's part and some defensive struggles for the Bluejays caused the result to go the other way.

Game Three: L, 14-8

The Coyotes made it three games in a row starting off with a homer, getting on the board early with a 2-0 lead to open the game.

Juan Rosa Gonzalez provided the answer the Bluejays were looking for in the bottom of the 1st inning with a triple to left field, scoring Cody Moore and Aidan Martinez. TC took the lead in the bottom of the 2nd as Isaiah Cohens found home plate due to a Kansas Wesleyan error.

Following Tabor's efforts, KWU added three more runs, scoring one run each in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings, making the score 5-3.

The tables turned yet again as Martinez notched an RBI single to cut the deficit to one. Cole Schieffer subsequently tied the game with a sacrifice fly, sending Jared Mack home. The final run of the inning, and the go-ahead run for Tabor came by way of a passed ball, sending Martinez in to score.

An RBI double and an RBI single in the top of the 6th put KWU back on top, 8-6.

Juan Rosa Gonzalez provided some much-needed fireworks for the Bluejays in the bottom of the inning with a solo homer.

Between the 7th and the 9th, six addition Coyote runs came across the plate, with four of them coming by way of a grand slam by Tyler Favretto.

Mack scored the final run for the Bluejays off a solo homer, but it would not be enough, as TC fell, 14-8.

Sergio Gutierrez was charged with the loss on the mound, bringing his record to 2-2 on the season.

Juan Rosa-Gonzalez led the team offensively with three RBIs.

With the loss, the Bluejays fall to 23-17 on the season and 15-13 in KCAC play.

Tabor faces a short turnaround as the team heads to Leavenworth on Tuesday for the mid-week series finale against the University of Saint Mary.
