HILLSBORO, Kan. – The weather proved to be just right for the exciting finale between the Bluejays and Oklahoma Wesleyan, and the ensuing game did not disappoint.
Game Three: W, 25-15 (7 innings)
Oklahoma Wesleyan got things off to a blazing hot start, taking a 7-0 lead after just one inning played.
Cody Moore put the Bluejays on the board with an RBI single.
The Eagles added four more runs in the top of the 2
nd to put even more pressure on the Bluejays.
Jared Mack and
Cole Schieffer added two runs for Tabor, each smashing the ball out of the park. For Mack, his bat has gotten hot as of late and fans have started to get used to him being a force when he steps up to the plate.
One more Eagle run came across the plate in the top of the 4
th before a big two innings for the Bluejays.
Moore,
Micah Dvorak, and
Garryn Plummer all recorded RBIs to trim the deficit to six. An RBI single to left by Schieffer got the scoring started for TC in the bottom of the 5
th. Dvorak followed with an RBI single, while
Isaiah Cohens was walked with the bases loaded, and Plummer was hit by pitch, and
Marcelo Aguirre walked with bases loaded to add three more runs for the Bluejays. Moore recorded an RBI double,
Juan Rosa Gonzalez hit an RBI single, Mack hit an RBI double to put the Bluejays ahead by three, 15-12. Dvorak was hit by pitch with the bases loaded to add another run, while Cohens drove in his second RBI of the day. Plummer added the extra cherry on top towards the end of the inning with a huge grand slam, putting the Bluejays up 21-12 heading into the 6
th inning.
Three runs came across the plate for the Eagles in the top of the 6
th, bringing their run total to 15.
The Bluejays didn't take their foot off the gas, with Dvorak driving in an RBI single, followed by a huge three-run homer by Cohens.
Garrick Levesque earned the win on the hill to bring his record to 2-1.
Garryn Plummer led the team on offense with six RBIs, while
Isaiah Cohens followed with five.
Cody Moore,
Jared Mack, and
Micah Dvorak each recorded one double, while Cohens, Plummer, Mack, and
Cole Schieffer each recorded homers.
Mateo Martinez led both teams in stolen bases on the afternoon with two.
With the win, the Bluejays earn the series win over OKWU and improve to 19-10 on the season and 11-6 in KCAC play.
The Bluejays are back in action as they welcome Ottawa University to Bluejay Field on Friday and Saturday.
