WALNUT CREEK, Texas – Valencia Andov's stellar performance at the Early Spring Classic has earned her the title of KCAC Golfer of the Week. The standout golfer claimed first place in the tournament, marking her first win of the season and further cementing her reputation as one of the top competitors in the conference.
Andov's opening round on Monday set the tone for her success, as she posted a career-best 2-over-par score. Her strong play allowed her to maintain the lead against a competitive field, which included Houston Victoria and the No. 2-ranked KCAC team, Southwestern. Holding onto the lead for the remainder of the tournament, Andov secured the individual victory and added yet another accolade to her growing list of achievements.
"It's an honor to be named KCAC Golfer of the Week," Andov said. "I appreciate my team and coaches for their support and look forward to what's next!"
Her coach praised her ability to stay composed under pressure.
"I am so proud of her to hold on to the lead for her first win of the season," the coach said. "Sometimes the hardest thing to do is play with the lead."
Andov's accomplishments continue to pile up. She has previously been named KCAC Newcomer of the Year, finished in the top five at the conference championship, and now adds a KCAC Golfer of the Week honor to her resume.
With Andov's continued leadership and the team's steady improvement, the Bluejays are optimistic about their prospects for the rest of the season. Their next tournament will provide another opportunity to build on this momentum as they aim for success in the upcoming KCAC Championship.
