STERLING, Kan. – After two successful efforts in the first two legs of the series, the Bluejays had the final contest in their sights and looked to close out the weekend on a high note. Sterling had other ideas and made the feat impossible for Tabor.
Game Three: L, 6-4
Once again, Tabor jumped on the scoreboard first, this time courtesy of a
Garryn Plummer bomb smashed over the fence, scoring the first two runs, as
Isaiah Cohens also came in to score.
The Warriors answered back quickly, scoring two runs in the bottom of the 1
st inning to even up the score. Four more Sterling runs came across the plate, one in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in the sixth.
Tabor had one final chance to get the upper hand, and by the looks of things at the beginning of the Bluejays' half of the inning they were in prime position to do so.
Jared Mack etched his name in the scorebook with an RBI double to left center, sending
Micah Dvorak home and advancing
Mateo Martinez to third.
Mikey Acosta added one more run, grounding out but earning an RBI as Martinez crossed home plate.
After all was said and done, the Bluejays ended up coming up short and dropping the final game of the series.
Evan Williams was charged with the loss on the mound for Tabor and
Zaid Flynn and
Garrick Levesque each came in for a relief appearance.
Garryn Plummer once again led the way on offense, recording two RBIs and one homer, while
Mikey Acosta and
Jared Mack each recorded one RBI of their own.
With the loss, the Bluejays fell to 14-9 on the season and 9-6 in KCAC play.
