HILLSBORO, Kan. – The first two games saw the Bluejays prevail in thrilling fashion, but despite the wins, the results were too close for comfort. The Bluejays were past due for a high scoring game and that is exactly what they made happen in the third and final game of the series.
Game Three: W, 21-6
Cody Moore smashed a three-run homer to right field, driving in
Garryn Plummer and
Isaiah Cohens to give the Bluejays the early three-run advantage.
Cole Schieffer followed Moore's performance a couple batters later with a two-run bomb, also sending
Aidan Martinez in two score. Tabor closed out their scoring efforts in the 1
st inning courtesy of a
Sergio Gutierrez single to second, sending
Mikey Acosta home to give TC a 6-0 lead.
Bethany drove in a run in the 2
nd inning. In the 4
th inning, the Swedes added their second run of the afternoon thanks to a Bluejay error and an RBI single.
Micah Dvorak helped stretch out the Bluejays' lead with an RBI single, scoring
Marcelo Aguirre in to score.
Juan Rosa Gonzalez followed things up with a two-RBI single to left field, sending Dvorak and Martinez home. Tabor's final run of the 5
th inning came off an error as Schieffer came in to score unearned.
The Swedes added another run in the top of the 6
th, coming off an RBI double to center field, bringing them back within seven as the Bluejays continued to hold a 10-3 lead.
Tabor capped things off with a massive bottom of the 6
th inning as the Bluejays scored a whopping 11 runs. In an inning where scoring was plentiful, there was one standout moment. The moment came late in the inning as
Brayden Berens came in to pinch hit. Berens smashed a three-run bomb to put the Bluejays in front by 18, 21-3.
The final inning saw Bethany provide one final effort, as a three-run homer brought the score to 21-6.
Evan Williams made the start on the mound for Tabor, throwing 98 pitches, five strikeouts, and facing 23 batters over the course of 4.1 innings. Williams earned his fourth win of the season and continues to look like one of the better arms in Tabor's arsenal.
Lee Souza finished the game on the mound in relief, also throwing five strikeouts.
Brayden Berens,
Micah Dvorak,
Sergio Gutierrez, and
Cody Moore each recorded three RBIs to lead the team on the offensive side of things.
Over the course of the game, the Bluejays recorded an impressive 18 total RBIs.
With the win, the Bluejays improved to 12-7 on the season and 7-4 in KCAC action.
