YORK, Neb. – Riding the high of an impressive 7-0 victory in the opening game of the series between the Bluejays and York University, Tabor Baseball seemed to have plenty of momentum to feed off of in the second game of the series.
Game Two: L, 7-6
On the scoring front, both teams got off to a faster start than the game before with the first runs going on the scoreboard in the 3
rd inning for both squads.
Garryn Plummer started things off with a bang, smashing a three-run homer over the left field fence, sending
Cody Moore and
Marcelo Aguirre in to score as well.
Mikey Acosta followed that up with a double down the right field line, sending both
Cole Schieffer and
Jared Mack home.
York got in on the scoring fun in the bottom of the 3
rd, scoring three runs to cut Tabor's lead to two, 5-3.
The Panthers added two more runs to tie the game at 5-5, scoring runs in the 4
th and 5
th innings.
Aidan Martinez provided an extra spark for TC in the top of the 8
th with a ground-rule double, scoring
Isaiah Cohens and sending Aguirre to third.
The bottom of the 8
th saw the Panthers pull ahead and ultimately clinch the win, 7-6.
Payton Tinkler got the start on the mound for Tabor, throwing 89 pitches and three chairs, but it was
Sergio Gutierrez who was charged with the loss after throwing the final 2.2 innings.
Garryn Plummer led the team on offense with three RBIs, while
Marcelo Aguirre found himself on base three times by way of walks.
With the loss, the Bluejays drop to 9-6 on the season and 4-3 in KCAC play.
