YORK, Neb. – Bluejay Baseball hit the road again this past weekend, making the trip up north to York, Neb. to take on the Panthers of York University in a three-game KCAC series.
Tabor entered the weekend fresh off a two-game sweep of Friends University on Tuesday and looked to capitalize on that momentum.
Game One: W, 7-0
The Bluejays got things going in a big way in the first game of Saturday's double-header after starting off with six scoreless innings.
Garryn Plummer got things going with a single to left field, sending
Connor Flynn in to score and advancing to second base on an errant throw.
Mikey Acosta followed things up later in the inning, hitting a single of his own to center and scoring
Jared Mack while
Cole Schieffer advanced to second.
York found themselves unable to score during their time at the plate, which led the way for yet another big inning for TC.
Juan Rosa Gonzalez put his name in the scorebook with a solid double down the left field line, sending
Marcelo Aguirre home to score the third Bluejay run.
Cody Moore followed that up with a single through the right side to send Rosa Gonzalez home. Schieffer decided to have some fun of his own, hitting a triple to right center, sending in Mack and
Mateo Martinez. Acosta recorded his second RBI of the day with a single through the right side to score Schieffer.
The two big innings for the Bluejays helped give the team an 8-0 win to open the series.
Wyatt Bauer earned his first win of the season on the mound, throwing 95 pitches, facing 24 batters and striking out four. Bauer came out after 6.1 innings with
Xander Roberts entering the game in relief. Roberts earned the save for his efforts on the day.
Cole Schieffer and
Mikey Acosta led the way for Tabor on the offensive front with each recording two RBIs.
With the win, the Bluejays earned their ninth win on the season and their fourth in conference play.
