GAME PREVIEW: TABOR AIMS FOR SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN OVER AVILA

KANSAS CITY, Mo. –  Following a heartbreaking loss to Bethel on Wednesday evening, the Lady Bluejays will make the trek to Avila University this Saturday to face the Lady Eagles for the second time this season.

The last matchup between these two teams occurred on Dec. 14, 2024, when the Bluejays picked up a solid 80-65 victory against the Eagles in their home arena. The Bluejays have won their last five matchups against Avila, and they will look to add a sixth consecutive win over the Eagles before going into postseason play.

During their December matchup, four Bluejays scored in double figures, including Kloe Bowin (14), Alyvia Owens (14), Miyah McGee (11), and Lillie Veer (10). The Lady Bluejays shot an impressive 50.0% from beyond the arc, sinking a total of eight three-pointers throughout the game. Tabor also shot 52.5% from the field and will aim to create the same offensive output in Saturday's contest.

Bowin and Veer significantly contributed in Wednesday's contest against Bethel, both scoring in double figures. Tabor struggled shooting from the three-point line, managing only a 25.0% shooting average. Looking ahead to Avila, the Lady Bluejays strive to enhance their offensive play with greater creativity and dynamism. Tabor has sustained an impressive 72.5% free throw average this season, with free throws proving crucial in tightly contested games.

Avila secured a comeback win over York on Wednesday evening, improving their conference record to 8-13 on the season. Marlie Wright led the Eagles in scoring with 19 points, also playing a strong defensive role against the Panthers with three blocks and one steal. Kathleen Stanley led Avila from long-range, shooting 3-5 from three-point range and securing 11 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Avila shot 41.5% from the field and 26.1% from beyond the arc against the Panthers. The Eagles recorded 35 rebounds and 14 assists on the evening, showcasing their second chance opportunities.

As a team, the Lady Eagles are shooting 39.4% from the field and 77.1% from the free throw line this season. Avila averages 32.7 rebounds per game and 11.3 assists. The Eagles enter the contest with an overall record of 8-19 and a conference record of 8-13. Tabor enters with an overall record of 17-8 and a KCAC record of 15-6.
