GAME PREVIEW: CONFERENCE RIVALS SET FOR HIGH-STAKES MATCHUP

NORTH NEWTON, Kan. –  After securing a two crucial KCAC wins against Bethany and Saint Mary at home last week, the Lady Bluejays will make the short trip to Bethel College this Wednesday to face the Lady Threshers for a second time this season.

The last matchup between these two teams occurred on Jan. 15, when the Bluejays suffered a challenging 48-66 defeat against the Threshers in their home arena. Throughout history, Tabor has a combined 46-24 record against the Threshers, and the Bluejays have won eight of their last 10 matchups against Bethel.

Alyvia Owens, Miyah McGee, Kloe Bowin, and Madie McCoy significantly contributed in Saturday's Senior Day win against Saint Mary, all scoring in double figures and putting up some impressive numbers. McCoy shot 5-7 from the field and 2-3 from beyond the arc, totaling 14 points on the evening. Owens was the leading scorer for the Lady Bluejays, securing 17 points and shooting 7-11 from the free throw line. McGee's defensive performance last week earned her a third KCAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition, highlighting her ability to shut down opposing offenses.

Bowin shot 100% from the free throw line and added three rebounds, one assist, and one block to the books. As a team, Tabor shot 70.4% from the free throw line and 42.6% from the field. The Tabor defense held Saint Mary to a 37.3% field goal average and only 56 points, much lower than their season average of 71 points per game.

Bethel comes off an important win on Saturday against Ottawa, moving the Threshers into a tie for fifth place in the conference. Carley Robb led the Threshers in scoring with 17 points, sinking five three-pointers. Kendall Locke and Madyson McKinzie contributed a combined 33 points of their own, with McKinzie posting a double-double on the evening. Bethel shot 42% from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc against the Braves. The Threshers recorded 41 rebounds and 18 assists on the evening, showcasing strong ball movement and many second chance opportunities.

As a team, the Lady Threshers are shooting 40.2% from the field and 67.2% from the free throw line this season. Bethel averages 37.4 rebounds per game, which means the Lady Bluejays must come prepared to fight for those second chance opportunities. Bethel enters the contest with an overall record of 14-12 and a conference record of 13-7. Tabor enters with an overall record of 17-8 and a KCAC record of 15-5.

The Lady Bluejays will be back in action in North Newton tomorrow evening for Bethel's Senior Night. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. in the Thresher Gym. The contest will be broadcast live on the KCAC Network for those who are unable to attend.
