GREAT BEND, Kan. – Bluejay Softball opened up KCAC Tournament play in Great Bend with a late morning/early afternoon matchup with No. 1 seeded Evangel. Originally slated to start at noon, the game was moved up to an 11am start due to potential weather concerns.
The Bluejays made their presence known, getting on the board first by way of a three-run homer from
Cheyenne Washington, sending
Reese Hefley and
Darcy Gillen in to score as well. The lead held for the Bluejays until a monster 5
th Inning from Evangel saw Tabor fall behind 9-3.
The Valor drove in one final run in the 6
th, before
Lauren Roberts hit an RBI single to right field to send
Payten Staley in to score. The Bluejays ultimately fell, 10-4.
The Bluejays will still have a chance at continuing their season in the elimination backet with a matchup with Kansas Wesleyan at 6:30pm. The game will be broadcast live on the
KCAC Network.
