BLUEJAYS EXTEND WINNING STREAK AFTER SWEEPING AVILA


HILLSBORO, Kan. — The Jays are on a hot streak, winning 10 games in a row. The Bluejays hosted Avila University with hopes of keeping that streak alive. Doing just that, they battled against the Eagles and won the series, 3-0.

GAME ONE- Bluejays 13 Eagles 10

Jackie Jimenez started the 1st with a single and scored off of a Juan Rosa-Gonzalez home run, 2-0.

In the 2nd, Marcelo Aguirre singled, Garryn Plummer walked, and Mikey Acosta walked. An error by the shortstop scored Aguirre and Isaiah Cohens reached. Jimenez hit a sac fly to score pinch runner Conner Flynn. Cody Moore singled to score Acosta. Rosa-Gonzalez hit another 3-run bomb, 8-0.

Avila scored three in the top of the 3rd, 8-3.

Acosta walked, Jimenez walked, and Moore hit a ball to center to score both Acosta and pinch runner Micah Dvorak, 10-3.

The Eagles scored one run in the 4th and 5th inning. Tabor scored 2 off an Aguirre home run and a ball in the dirt, 12-3.

Avila scored another two runs in the 7th. Micah Dvorak homered to make it, 13-7.

In the Eagle's last at-bats, they scored three to cut their deficit, to 13-10.

GAME TWO- Bluejays 4 Eagles 3

A few hits for the Eagles scored one in the 2nd inning. Miguel Ramos III got the bottom half of the inning with a hit to center. Marcelo Aguirre hit a 2-run home run and shortly after, Isaiah Cohens homered to left, 3-1.

Avila scored two in the top of the 5th to tie the game up, 3-3. 

The game went into extra innings and finally, in the bottom of the 9th, Garryn Plummer hit a solo home run to win the game, 4-3.

GAME THREE- Bluejays 19 Eagles 13

Avila started the game off with two home runs, 0-2.

Jackie Jimenez was hit by a pitch and Juan Rosa-Gonzalez hit a 2-run home run, 2-2.

The Eagles scored four in the 2nd, 2-6. 

In the bottom of the 3rd, Jimenez and Rosa-Gonzalez each had solo home runs, 4-6.

Another two runs for the Eagles in the 4th, 4-8. Trotter Boston got on with a single to first, Micah Dvorak doubled to right, Garryn Plummer walked, and Jimenez was walked to score Boston, 5-8.

Avila scored one in the 5th inning, two in the 6th, and one in the 7th, 5-12.

The Bluejays scored seven in the 7th. Marcelo Aguirre hit a 3-run home run. Dvorak hit a solo home run and Jimenez hit a 2-run homerun to tie the game, 12-12.

The Eagles scored their last run of the game in the 8th, 12-13.

Another seven runs sealed the game for the Jays in the 8th. Dvorak hit a 3-run homerun, Moore scored Plummer on a ball hit to the outfield, and Miguel Ramos III hit a 3-run homerun, 19-13.

The Bluejays next game will be in Leavenworth, Kansas on Tuesday, April 9th to take on the University of Saint Mary for game two of three. Game time starts at 3 p.m.
