JAYS SWEEP SOUTHWESTERN ON SENIOR WEEKEND

HILLSBORO, Kan. — The Bluejays got to celebrate more than just sweeping Southwestern College. They celebrated the seniors who helped them get to a winning season and recognized their accomplishments. 

Head Coach Mark Standiford said, "It was a good bounce back after struggling against KWU. I thought overall we played well in all aspects of the game. It's always nice to get a sweep on senior weekend."

GAME ONE- Bluejays 13 Moundbuilders 3

Tyler Mata Lloyd got on by an error, Micah Dvorak was hit by a pitch, and Jackie Jimenez singled to score Mata Lloyd. A double play ball scored Dvorak to make it 2-0 Bluejays. 

No more runs were scored until the bottom of the 4th inning. Juan Rosa-Gonzalez was walked to start the inning and Miguel Ramos III reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on a passed ball. Marcelo Aguirre singled to short, and Cody Moore got himself an RBI to score Ramos III. Sebastian Sarabia singled, Isaiah Cohens doubled to right and scored Aguirre. Mata Lloyd was walked, Dvorak was walked, and scored pinch runner Mikey Acosta. Jimenez singled to score Cohens and Mata Lloyd. Rosa-Gonzalez hit a 3-run home run to make it, 10-0.

Southwestern scored their three runs in the 6th and 7th innings to cut their deficit, to 10-3.

The Bluejays ended the game an inning early but scored three in the 8th, 13-3 winning the first game of senior weekend. 

GAME TWO- Bluejays 5 Moundbuilders 1

The Builders scored their only run in the first inning off a double and a single to the outfield, 0-1.

Miguel Ramos III walked in the 2nd inning and advanced to second on a passed ball. Cody Moore hit a 2-run home run to get the Bluejays on the board, 2-1.

In the 3rd inning, Trotter Boston singled, Micah Dvorak was hit by a pitch, Jackie Jimenez singled, and Juan Rosa-Gonzalez singled to score both Boston and Dvorak, 4-1.

The Bluejays added one to the score in the 6th, 5-1.

GAME THREE- Bluejays 15 Moundbuilders 2

The Moundbuilders were on the board first with a hit to center, 0-1.

Tyler Mata Lloyd doubled off the right field wall to start the 1st inning, advanced to third on a passed ball, and scored on a wild pitch, 1-1.

Southwestern scored their last run of the game in the 2nd inning, 1–2.

Miguel Ramos III walked, Marcelo Aguirre singled to left, and pinch runner Isiah Cohens stole second to have runners in scoring position. Garryn Plummer singled to short and scored Ramos III. Trotter Boston hit a sac fly to score Cohens. Mata Lloyd walked, and Micah Dvorak reached on an error by the second baseman to score Plummer, 4-2.

In the 3rd inning, the Jays scored 5. Rosa-Gonzalez reached on an error and advanced to second, Ramos III singled to left, and Aguirre doubled to score Rosa-Gonzalez. Cody Moore hit a sac fly to score Ramos III. Plummer singled and scored Aguirre. Plummer advanced to second on a wild pitch, Mata Lloyd walked then stole second. Plummer scored on a passed ball and Dvorak doubled to score Mata Lloyd, 9-2.

Moore reached on an error and Plummer doubled to score pinch runner Connor Flynn. Boston walked, Mata Lloyd singled, and pinch runner Xander Roberts scored. Mata Lloyd stole second, Dvorak walked, and Mikey Acosta singled to score Boston and Mata Lloyd, 13-2.

The Bluejays added two in the 5th and 6th innings to wrap up the senior weekend with another run rule, 15-2.

The Bluejays are back in action in Springfield, Missouri to play against Evangel University on Wednesday, April 24th at noon for a doubleheader.
