LAWRENCE, Kan. – While the rest of Bluejay Track and Field is preparing for the Tabor College Invitational tomorrow, the women's 4x800m relay team traveled to Lawrence for the historic KU Relays, hosted by the University of Kansas.
Danielle Allison,
Brooke Wiebe,
Sonya Zimmerman, and
Hannah Grover competed in a field of 11 teams, featuring programs from the NCAA DI, DII, NAIA, and NJCAA ranks. The squad ran a time of 9:20.99, which was good for second place overall, and earned the group the school record in the event. The Bluejays finished behind Cloud County Community College and beat NCAA DI programs like the University of Kansas and University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Distance Coach
Rylan Hincher was pleased with his group's performance, "[It was a] Great day for the crew of Danielle, Brooke, Sonya, and Hannah!"
"Always a great opportunity to run in the historic KU Relays. We beat some really good teams and knocked out the national standard which is always great before heading into conference. All four ladies ran great legs to finish second ahead of several DI & DII schools while being the top NAIA school in the event. This group now has the indoor and outdoor school record in the 4x800!"
The Bluejays will host the Tabor College Invitational tomorrow at Joel H. Wiens Stadium. The first events will begin at 1pm and the meet will be broadcast live
