HILLSBORO, Kan. — After a tough past weekend, the Bluejays pulled it together to take on the University of Saint Mary Spires. Over the past three weeks, the Jays got to play the Spires at home and in Leavenworth. They finished the series sweeping Saint Mary, 3-0.
GAME THREE- Bluejays 14 Spires 5
To start the game, Tyler Mata Lloyd was walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Micah Dvorak flew out to right field to move Mata Lloyd. Jackie Jimenez hit a sac fly to score the first run of the game, 1-0.
Saint Mary got that run back in the 2nd inning, 1-1. Tabor came back with one, Miguel Ramos III singled to right, Marcelo Aguirre singled to left, and Trotter Boston was walked. A ball hit to the second baseman scored Ramos III, 2-1.
Mata Lloyd hit a double to get the 3rd inning going. Another fly out moved Mata Lloyd to third and scored on the throw. Jimenez singled up the middle, Juan Rosa-Gonzalez singled to right, Ramos III singled to right and scored Jimenez, 4-1.
The Spires scored three runs in the 4th to tie it up, 4-4. The Bluejays drove in five runs to get back on top, 9-4.
A scoreless 5th inning for the Spires. Garryn Plummer singled to right, Mikey Acosta reached on a fielder's choice then stole second. Mata Lloyd singled to the shortstop to move Acosta to third. Mata Lloyd stole second to have runners in scoring position. Dvorak singled to left to score both Acosta and Mata Lloyd. Jimenez hit a solo home run, 12-4.
Ramos III scored the only run in the 6th with a solo home run, 13-4.
The University of Saint Mary got a few hits in the 8th and scored one, 13-5. An Aguirre home run added one more to the board to finish the series, 14-5.
The Bluejays are home for senior day on Saturday, April 20th at noon to take on Southwestern University.
