BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Bluejay Softball headed into Saturday with some solid momentum, winning five of their last six games and scoring 35 total runs in their most recent series with York on Tuesday.
The Bluejays' oppenents on Saturday, Oklahoma Wesleyan, came into the series after getting swept by Friends in a disappointing series in Wichita where the Eagles scored one run in the doubleheader.
Laura Savage scored on a passed ball to give the Bluejays an early 1-0 advantage in the top of the 1
st Inning. Oklahoma Wesleyan answered in the bottom of the 1
st, sending four runners in to score. The Eagles drove in three more runs in the bottom of the 2
nd Inning to extend their lead to 7-1 over Tabor.
The Bluejays couldn't get anything going and Oklahoma Wesleyan would drive in two more runs in the bottom of the 5
th and the Bluejays would drop game one on a run rule, 9-1.
Game two saw the Bluejays get out to a solid start, with Savage and
Reese Hefley crossing the plate and taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1
st. The Eagles would send in a run in the bottom of the 4
th to cut the Bluejays' lead to one, before
Jordyn Farren drove in Hefley for an RBI single to push the lead back out to two runs for Tabor.
That lead proved to only be temporary, as the Eagles drove in five runs to take a 6-3 lead in the bottom of the 5
th. The Bluejays were unable to find an answer and dropped the second game, 6-3.
The Bluejays will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they host Kansas Christian in a rematch of the series that took place on April 4
th in Kansas City, which saw the Bluejays score 37 runs across the doubleheader. First pitch will take place at 3pm and the series will be broadcast on the
KCAC Network.
