HILLSBORO, Kan. — A sweep against York University set the Bluejays up for their upcoming mid-week against Mid-America Christian University. The guys put up enough runs to end their 9-inning game early, 14-4.
Assistant Coach Jacob Jones said, "Another solid win against a very quality MACU team. It was another great performance as a whole team. Our offense continued to have outstanding at-bats throughout our whole lineup. We threw quite a few pitchers and overall they did well."
The first two innings for both teams were quiet. Evan Williams got the start for the Bluejays on the mound. Finally, in the bottom of the third, Tyler Mata Lloyd hit a single to center and Trotter Boston went yard scoring two off the bat. Cody Moore then hit a double to center field and Juan Rosa-Gonzalez hit a single to move Moore to third and shortly after, Rosa-Gonzalez stole second. An error by the shortstop, moved the runners and Aidan Martinez got on base. Garryn Plummer got hit by a pitch. Sebastian Sarabia hit a double to score Rosa-Gonzalez and Martinez. A single to the shortstop by Mikey Acosta scored Micah Dvorak who pinch-ran for Plummer. A fielder's choice scored Sarabia and Mata Lloyd reached first. Another Boston homerun moved the score to 8-0.
The Bluejays scored two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, 10-0.
In the top of the sixth, MACU scored 1 slowly trying to get back the runs, 10-1. A Miguel Ramos III bomb scored one in the bottom of the sixth, 11-1.
The Evangels answered back with a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh, 11-4.
To close out the game, the Bluejays scored three more runs. Mata Lloyd hit a double to center and moved to third on a balk. With a single in the hole between third and short, Mata Lloyd scored and Boston got on first. Rosa-Gonzalez ripped a double to center to end the game, 14-4.
The Bluejays will be on the road in Lindsborg, Kansas to take on the Bethany Swedes at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 9th for one nine-inning game and Sunday, March 10th for a doubleheader.
