YORK IS NO TROUBLE FOR THE BLUEJAYS

HILLSBORO, Kan. —  The Bluejays are on a 7-game winning streak coming off a great weekend against York University. The guys swept their second KCAC series. 

Head Coach Mark Standiford said, "We played really well. Our offense was outstanding and our pitching staff did a great job considering the windy conditions. Hopefully, we can continue to build off this weekend."

GAME ONE- Bluejays 15 Panthers 5

Cutter Smith was on the bump for the Bluejays. Tyler Mata Lloyd got a lead-off walk in the bottom of the first inning and stole second while Micah Dvorak reached on a walk. Juan Rosa-Gonzalez got on with a fielder's choice while Mata Lloyd moved over to third. Miguel Ramos III got walked. The bases were loaded with two outs and Marcelo Aguirre hit a grand slam to make it 4-0 Jays. 

The Panthers answered back with a few hits off of Smith making the score 4-3. The Bluejays responded with a Dvorak single and a Rosa-Gonzalez homerun. Ramos III singled, Aguirre singled, and Isaiah Cohens got in on the action and hit an RBI single to have Ramos III score 7-3. 

The Bluejays scored another 4 runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings, 11-3. In the top of the sixth, a Panther ripped one over the wall to add one to their score, 11-4. Isaiah Cohens hit a solo home run to get that run back making it 12-4 Bluejays. In the top of the seventh, the Bluejays put in Mattingly Milledge to finish the game. A York bomb added to the score to make it 12-5.

The game finished an inning early when the Bluejays scored just enough for a run rule. In the bottom of the eighth Aguirre hit a single, Trotter Boston hit a double in the gap, Cohens singled, and to clear the bases with a double was Mata Lloyd, 15-5. 

GAME TWO- Bluejays 17 Panthers 3

Payton Tinkler started game two against the York Panthers. Very similar to the first game, Tyler Mata Lloyd got hit by the pitch to start the inning. Mata Lloyd then stole second base while Micah Dvorak got walked. A few pitches later Mata Lloyd and Dvorak stole third and second. With runners in scoring position, Cody Moore hit a 2 RBI single. Juan Rosa-Gonzalez was hit by a pitch and moved over when Miguel Ramos III layed down a bunt single. Marcelo Aguirre hit a sac fly to score Moore. Trotter Boston then hit a homerun with Rosa-Gonzalez on base, 5-0 Bluejays. 

Tyler Mata Lloyd was hit by the pitch to start the second inning. Dvorak was walked and both Mata Lloyd and Dvorak moved to the next bag on a wild pitch. Moore hit another 2-run single, 7-0. 

A big third inning for the Bluejays scoring 8 runs. Ramos III started off the inning with a single and stealing second. Aguirre was walked, Isaiah Cohens hit a single, and Garryn Plummer hit a double into the gap for Ramos III and Aguirre to score. Mata Lloyd got in on the action and hit a single for Cohens and pinch runner Mikey Acosta to score. Dvorak hit a single and Moore hit a monster homerun to clear the bases. After a quick pitching change for York, Juan Rosa-Gonzalez hit a solo home run, 15-0. 

In the fourth inning, Cohens got on base with a single and Garryn Plummer hit a 2-run homerun. Mata Lloyd singled, Aidan Martinez was hit by a pitch, and Sebestian Sarabia reached on a fielder's choice, 17-0. 

York University finally scored their first runs of the game in the seventh. They found the holes and scored three runs to finish game two, 17-3.

GAME THREE- Bluejays 30 Panthers 13

Max Raddatz started on the mound for the last game of the series. A York homerun started the game, 1-0 top 1. In a long bottom first inning, the Bluejays got to hit around twice. Tyler Mata Lloyd walked, and Micah Dvorak walked. Cody Moore hit a sac fly to move Mata Lloyd to third. Juan Rosa-Gonzalez hit a double for Mata Lloyd to score. Miguel Ramos III got hit by a pitch. Marcelo Aguirre single to shortstop and scored Dvorak and Rosa-Gonzalez. With two runners on Trotter Boston hit a 3-run home run to make it 6-1. Isaiah Cohens hit a single, Garryn Plummer hit a double to left and Cohens scored. Mikey Acosta came in to pinch run for Plummer and Mata Lloyd hit him around to score off of a single. Mata Lloyd then stole second while Dvorak walked. Moore hit a double to left to score Mata Lloyd and Dvorak, 10-1.

The Panthers scored another run in the second inning off of another homerun, 10-2. The Bluejays came back to score 5 in the bottom of the second, 15-2. York didn't give up and hit two more home runs to add to their score, 15-4. The Panthers had their longest inning in the fourth when multiple guys got on base and three hit home runs, 15-9.

The Bluejays had another long inning in the bottom of the fifth. Rosa-Gonzalez reached on a dropped third strike then Miguel Ramos III hit a 2-run bomb to clear the bases. Marcelo Aguirre singled, Trotter Boston singled, Garryn Plummer reached on a fielder's choice and Mikey Acosta pinch ran. Tyler Mata Lloyd walked, Micah Dvorak got hit by a pitch, and Aguirre scored. Cody Moore singled to center for Acosta and Mata Lloyd to score. Rosa-Gonzalez walked and with the bases loaded, Miguel Ramos III hit his second bomb of the game. Aguirre also went deep to move the score to 25-9.

At the top of the sixth, the Panthers scored 4 more runs off a grand slam, 25-13.

Assistant Coach Jake Jones finished with, "It was a good series for our guys. We just need to continue to stay focused and keep working and progressing as a team.  It is always nice to see the support that we get at our games as well. Our fans are the best!"  

The Bluejays added 5 more runs to the score. A single hit by Plummer, Rosa-Gonzalez hit a double, Ramos III hit his third home run of the game, and Aguirre hit his second home run. Another run rule for the Bluejays cut the game two innings short, 30-13.

The Bluejays are now 10-6 overall and 7-2 in the KCAC. The guys play in Hillsboro, Kansas on Wednesday, March 6th against Mid-America Christian University at 1:00 p.m.
