OTTAWA, Kan. — A quick turnaround for the Bluejays as they played No. 23 Freed-Hardeman University on March 27th. The Jays started their conference game against the Ottawa Braves on March 29th and the 30th. In great Tabor baseball fashion, they took the 3-game series away from the Braves.
GAME ONE- Bluejays 7 Braves 1
Payton Tinkler started and finished the game with only 122 pitches.
The Bluejays were first on the board in the top of the 3rd inning. Mikey Acosta got it started with a single to right, Tyler Mata Lloyd was walked, and Jackie Jimenez swung at the first pitch for a 3-run home run, 3-0.
A home run by Marcelo Aguirre in the 5th, made the score 4-0.
In the top of the 6th, the Jays scored two more runs. Trotter Boston got walked and Garryn Plummer got walked. Aguirre drove one out to center and Boston tagged up to advance to third. Acosta moved the runners with a single to right. Mata Lloyd was walked and on an error by the first baseman pinch runner, Isaiah Cohens scored, 6-0.
Ottawa answered back with a solo home run, 6-1.
The Bluejays finished the game adding 1 more run, 7-1.
GAME TWO- Bluejays 13 Braves 6
Garrick Levesque got the win for the Jays on day two game one.
Tyler Mata Lloyd got the day started with a single to left. Jackie Jimenez got on with a single to right to move Mata Lloyd to third. Cody Moore picked up an RBI and scored Mata Lloyd. Juan Rosa-Gonzalez scored Jimenez on a double off the wall. Miguel Ramos III was walked, and runners moved over on a Garryn Plummer grounder. Marcelo Aguirre got walked to make it bases-loaded. Trotter Boston singled to center to score, Rosa-Gonzalez and Ramos III, 4-0.
The Braves came alive in the bottom of the 3rd to score three runs, 4-3.
Tabor scored one in the top of the 5th, 5-3.
Ottawa scored one in the 6th, 5-4.
In the 7th, Ramos III hit a double, Plummer was hit by a pitch, and Aguirre singled to make it bases-loaded. An error on the right fielder off a hit from Boston scored two. Mikey Acosta moved over the runners with a sac bunt. Mata Lloyd singled to right and stole second. Moore walked and Rosa-Gonzalez singled to center, 9-4.
In the 9th inning, Tabor scored three and Ottawa scored 2. Making it another Bluejay win, 13-6.
GAME THREE- Bluejays 5 Braves 2
Cutter Smith sealed the deal for the Bluejays on the mound.
The Braves scored one in the 1st inning, 0-1.
The Bluejays were able to get one in the 4th. Juan Rosa-Gonzalez was walked, Marcelo Aguirre singled, Trotter Boston singled, and Mikey Acosta was walked to score Rosa-Gonzalez, 1-1.
Ottawa scored their last run of the game in the bottom of the 5th, 1-2.
The Jays took charge in the 7th inning scoring four runs to shut down the Braves, 5-2.
The Bluejays are back at home to take on the St. Mary Spires on Tuesday, April 2nd at 3:00 p.m.
