NORTH NEWTON, Kan. – The chilly temperatures didn't stop the Bluejay Women's Track & Field team from competing as an entire team on Saturday for the first time this spring. The distance squad opened their spring season last week at the Saint Mary Distance Carnival, but the rest of the team had yet to get their season going.
800m Race
Five Bluejay ladies competed in the women's 800m race on Saturday, with all five athletes earning top 10 finishes.
Danielle Allison crossed the finish line first for Tabor, running a time of 2:18.66 and securing a second-place finish, while
Brooke Wiebe finished right behind her, running 2:19.11 and taking third.
Sonya Zimmerman and
Hannah Grover finished weren't far behind, finishing with times of 2:20.36 and 2:22.94 respectively, with Zimmerman taking fifth and Grover taking seventh.
Julianna Maxfield rounded out the lineup for the Bluejays, taking 10
th with a time of 2:27.63.
1500m Race
Adrienne Selzer led the way for the Lady Bluejays in the women's 1500, notching an eighth-place finish with a time of 5:19.18.
Sydnee Gardner also finished in the top 10, running 5:29.48 and finishing 10
th.
Adelia Janssen and Kylie Arnold would be neck and neck, finishing in 12
th and 13
th respectively with times of 5:31.81 and 5:32.93, while
Kaylee DeAngelis and
Andrea Serrano would finish nearly the same, grabbing 16
th and 17
th while running 5:35.12 and 5:39.56.
Sarah Dark would run a time of 6:01.53 and would snag 21
st, to round out the race for the Bluejays.
Long Jump
D'myia Cox represented the team in the women's Long Jump and didn't disappoint. Cox took second with a best and final jump of 16'7".
Triple Jump
The Bluejays had one athlete compete in the women's Triple Jump, with
Allie von Leonrod hitting a mark of 31'3" and taking 10
th place.
Shot Put
Two Tabor ladies threw in the women's Shot Put:
Sasha Wasinger and
Ali House. Wasinger took 10
th with a distance of 35'2", while House finished 16
th with a final throw of 30'3".
Discus
Andelyn Johnson notched a sixth-place finish with a throw of 117'4", while
Sarah Miser would throw for a distance of 96'5" and secure a 19
th place finish.
Hammer Throw
Four Tabor ladies competed in the women's Hammer Throw.
Andelyn Johnson and
Sasha Wasinger had strong finishes, earning 12
th and 13
th place respectively, with Johnson throwing for a distance of 123'7" and Wasinger throwing for a distance of 122'9".
Ali House grabbed 17
th place with a throw of 116'7", while
Sarah Miser was 21
stwith a throw or 106'3".
Javelin
Johnson and House would also compete in the women's Javelin, with Johnson finishing fifth and House finishing 14
th. Johnson threw 102'2", while House threw 63'3".
"On a cold day, we had many personal records set by multiple individuals on the track and in the field", said Head Coach Dave Kroeker. "

The Bluejay Track & Field team will be back in action this week as the team will travel to Emporia on Thursday for the Emporia State Open, and the distance squad will head to St. Louis for the Washington University Distance Carnival on Friday.
