BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — The Bluejays traveled south to play Oklahoma Wesleyan University, hoping to extend their streak. The guys split with the Eagles to end both teams' winning streaks.
Assistant Coach Jake Jones said, "Both games were great baseball games, two good teams going at it. It was good to go on the road and win the first game down there. The second game was a tough one. OKWU fought back like we knew they would and they happened to end up on top in game 2. We played well but as always there are things to improve on. We have a good team that has a chance to be special. We will continue to work and get better."
GAME ONE- Bluejays 9 Eagles 7
Evan Williams pulled out the win on the mound for the Bluejays. Tyler Mata Lloyd started the top of the first by reaching on an error made by the first baseman. Cody Moore stepped up to the plate and delivered a 2-run home run, 2-0.
OKWU got one back with a lead-off homerun, 2-1.
The Bluejays didn't let up. Mikey Acosta got started with a solo home run. Mata Lloyd singled to left and Trotter Boston hit a double to have runners in scoring position. Moore hit a single, Miguel Ramos III hit an RBI single, and Marcelo Aguirre got walked to make it bases-loaded. Garryn Plummer scored Moore on a single to right to make the score, 6-1.
In the bottom of the third, the Eagles added 3 more runs, 6-4.
In the fourth and sixth innings, the Bluejays scored 3 runs to make it 9-4. Oklahoma Wesleyan scored another 3 but couldn't add any more. This meant that it was a Bluejay win, 9-7.
GAME TWO- Bluejay 6 Eagles 7
The Bluejays got the game going with a Tyler Mata Lloyd walk and he advanced to second on a passed ball. Isaiah Cohens hit a sac fly to move Mata Lloyd to third and Cody Moore singled to right to get the first run across, 1-0.
Oklahoma Wesleyan tied up the score with a home run, 1-1.
Miguel Ramos III got on base with a single to right field and moved to second on a passed ball. Marcelo Aguirre singled, Trotter Boston walked, and Garryn Plummer hit one up the middle to score Ramos III, 2-1.
The top of the fifth is when the Bluejays had their biggest inning scoring 3 runs, 5-1. The Eagles answered back with 2 runs, 5-3.
Tabor got one more run in the top of the sixth to try to secure the win but OKWU came alive in the bottom of the seventh to score 4, 6-7.
The Bluejays are at home in Hillsboro, Kansas to take on Sterling College at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 15th.
