HILLSBORO, Kan. – The Tabor College Men's Basketball team took on Kansas Wesleyan University last night. The Bluejays were coming off an impressive 100-81 win over Friends University on Senior Night on Saturday while the Coyotes were coming off a win over Ottawa University on Monday. The Bluejays looked to build on the momentum created by Saturday's game, and they looked to do so with
Kenyon Holcombe back in the lineup after missing the game on Saturday due to an injury.
Jack Voth helped the Bluejays get on the board first, taking an early 4-0 lead at the 17:50 mark. Tabor would lose
Kalep Crane to injury in the first five minutes of the game, an event that might have had an effect on the rest of the game The teams would trade buckets, but the Coyotes would jump out to an eight-point lead with 9:10 on the clock and would jump out to a 13-point lead with 4:59 left in the half.
Zach Hiebert helped bring the Bluejays back within five, but Kansas Wesleyan would kick the lead back out to nine before heading into the locker room at halftime.
The second half would prove to be a rough one for the Bluejays, with the Coyotes steadily pushing their lead out, eventually going up by 32. The Bluejays would try to chip away but would fall by 28. Voth led the team in scoring with 21, while
Jaiden Miller (18) and
Thatcher McClure (16) would also finish in double figures.
James Aboaba (6),
Kade Hemmert (5),
Zach Hiebert (3), and
Leon Srisamutr (3) rounded out the scoring for Tabor.
The Bluejays will finish their season this coming Saturday on the road at McPherson College. The game will tip off at 7pm and will be broadcast live on the
KCAC Network. The Bluejays will be looking to sweep the series with the Bulldogs after winning an overtime thriller back in January.
