YORK, Neb. – A trip three hours up north might have phased some teams, but Tabor Women's Basketball is not "some teams". The Lady Bluejays prepared for York like any other opponent, and the Panthers proved during the first half that they aren't to be underestimated.
Fresh off a commanding win over McPherson College, the Bluejays went into the Freeman Center full of confidence. After a slow start, Tabor easily dispatched the Panthers by 34, 74-40.
Alyvia Owens led the Lady Bluejays on offense, contributing 18 points, shooting an impressive 8-11 (72.2%) from the field and 2-3 from beyond the arc. The Bluejays leading scorer from Wednesday evening,
Kassidy Beam added 11 points of her own. Freshman
Ivy Preusser stepped up and rounded out the team in double-figures with 11 points as well.
Defensively, Tabor had an excellent performance, holding the Panthers to zero points from the field in the 3
rd quarter and only giving up two free throws. Individually, Beam lead the Bluejay defense with three steals and four defensive boards. Preusser led the team in total boards, grabbing seven on the day.
The Lady Bluejays return to action on Wednesday as the Friends University Falcons come to town. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00pm and the contest will be broadcast live on
Tabor Webcast.
