HILLSBORO, Kan. – Coming off a big win on the road, the Lady Bluejays looked to continue and build on their 5-0 record in KCAC play as they hosted Friends on Wednesday night.
A cold shooting second half doomed Tabor as the Falcons saw an opportunity to pull away, giving the Bluejays their first blemish in conference play, 62-50.
Kloe Bowin's 11-point outing was the highlight of the evening, as Bowin shot 62.5% (5-8) from the field and 50% (1-2) from the charity stripe.
Lillie Veer finished with 10 points, while
Ivy Preusser flirted with double figures, tallying eight points on the night.
Veer hauled in six boards while
Adrian Hazelwood recorded four assists.
"It was a disappointing loss on a lot of fronts", remarked Head Coach
Shawn Reed. "In the first half, we had way too many turnovers, but we shot the ball fairly well and in the second half we solved the turnover problem but couldn't buy a bucket. I give Friends a lot of the credit for our struggles. I thought they played harder on the defensive end of the floor, and we really didn't execute any of the things we worked on."
"We have a lot of talent on our team, but we have to start playing with more discipline and intentionality on both ends of the floor. I think a lot of times we get away with things because we are talented but against good teams that won't work. We will continue to work on finding ways to install discipline that can weather adversity."
The Bluejays return to Tabor College Gymnasium on Saturday as they host Avila University at 2pm.
