HILLSBORO, Kan. – Over the past two weeks we have been taking a deep dive into each of the unique opponents faced by Tabor Football from 1967-2000. From 1967-2000, the Bluejays faced 25 different unique opponents.
In 2004, Tabor made its second appearance in the NAIA Football Championship Series in school history where the Bluejays met then-NAIA powerhouse University of Sioux Falls in the opening round. The Cougars, then members of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), won handily, 72-11. This meeting between the two programs marked the first of two meetings between both programs, with the second meeting also coming in the NAIA FCS during the following season.
During the aforementioned 2005 playoff run, the Bluejays met Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) foe Graceland University for the first time, meeting the Yellowjackets in the first round. Tabor skated past Graceland in the only meeting between the two programs, 17-14.
Oklahoma Panhandle State University met TC on the gridiron beginning with the 2007 campaign, where the Bluejays won handily, 49-28. The win over the Aggies would be the only win for the Bluejays during that season. OPSU, members of the now-defunct Central States Football League (CSFL) during that time, returned the favor the following season, handing Tabor a 31-15 loss.
Over the course of the next few weeks, the Tabor College Sports Information Department will be taking a deep dive into the colorful history of TC Football opponents throughout the years. Fans will get to learn fun facts and nuggets about Tabor Football they may never have thought of before.
