HILLSBORO, Kan. – Tabor College's athletic department history dates back to the late 1940s, as men's basketball was one of the first varsity sports to be sponsored by the college.
1948-49 saw the Bluejay men compete in their first official season on the hardwood, playing in 17 contests, competing against area schools like Manhattan Bible College (now Manhattan Christian College), Bethel College, Sterling College, Central College (now Central Christian College), Friends University, Luther College (now Midland University), and St. John's College (located in Winfield, closed in 1986), as well as the Freshman team from Wichita University (now known as Wichita State University).
The inaugural Bluejays compiled an 11-6 overall record under Head Coach Daniel Neufield, ending their season with a trip to the Amateur Athletic Union's (AAU) National Tournament.
Since 1948, the schedules have changed, more games have been added, and new opponents have faced off with the Bluejays. TC joined the KCAC in 1968, adding intensity to long standing series' and rivalries.
