BLUEJAYS HELD TO A 1-1 DRAW WITH BETHEL

HILLSBORO, Kan. – Following a difficult loss to Ottawa last weekend, the Bluejays aimed to enhance their conference record and improve their offensive performance in their Wednesday evening matchup against Bethel. The Threshers entered the competition with a conference record of 4-3 while the Bluejays entered with a conference record of 3-4.

Bethel came into the match ready to produce some offensive results, netting their first goal just four minutes into play. Despite continuous back-and-forth action on the field, neither team managed to capitalize on their opportunities. 30 minutes into the match, Molelwa Abendelwa found the back of the net and equalized the score for the Bluejays. After a couple of shots from both sides, the first half ended in a fairly uneventful manner.

At the beginning of the second half, Tabor took a chance with David Montoya's header, but the Bluejays were unable to push ahead. Alejandro Honrado was able to record a few saves throughout the second half, keeping up strong defensive efforts against the Threshers. The remainder of the match left both goals untouched, as neither Tabor nor Bethel could convert on their opportunities. The match concluded in a 1-1 draw, and both teams added their first tie to the conference records.

Bethel took a total of eight shots on the evening, five of which were saves recorded by Honrado. This increases his total saves to 42 for the season, with five games remaining in the regular season schedule. On the other hand, Tabor only took five shots throughout the match. This draw put the Bluejays at a record of 3-4-1 in conference play, and they will look to improve that record on the road this Saturday as they travel to the University of Saint Mary. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. at Charles Berkel Memorial Stadium.
