MCPHERSON, Kan. - The Tabor Men's and Women's Cross Country teams made the short trip to McPherson to compete in the Carol Swenson Invitational, delivering strong performances.
The men's race kicked off at 9:00 A.M., with the Bluejays securing a strong 2nd place finish, scoring 34 points, just behind a Division II team, Northwestern Oklahoma State.
Justin Morwood led the Bluejays, being the team's first runner for the first time this season placing 4th overall with a time of 26:43 in the 8k. Close behind was
Matthew Veloz, who finished 5th with a time of 26:47. Senior
Logan Dybowski was crossed the line in 9th place, clocking in at 27:00.
Nick Green ran a season-best 27:29; securing 14th place. Closing out the team's top five with a time of 28:57, placing 33rd overall.
On the women's side, the Bluejays continued to build off of their momentum from the past couple of meets, as they tallied another first-place finish. Several athletes set personal/season best during the race. Junior,
Adrienne Selzer was once again the team's top finisher, finishing 3rd, with a personal record time of 20:01. Following closely behind was,
Julianna Maxfield with a time of 20:32 bringing her in 5th overall.
Lauren Aden ran the season-best time of 20:39 being 8th overall.
Lauryn Turner came in with a time of 21:22 recording a new personal record, finishing as 12th overall.
Sonya Zimmerman closed out the top 5 with a time of 21:46 being 15th overall.
The Bluejays will take a week off to rest up for their next meet in Ashland, Neb. as they compete in the Blazing Tiger NAIA Classic on October 26th.
