BLUEJAY MEN KICK OFF SECOND HALF OF CONFERENCE PLAY WITH WIN OVER FRIENDS

WICHITA, Kan. – The Tabor College Men's Basketball team made the short drive Wednesday night down to Wichita to face KCAC foe Friends University. The Bluejays were coming off a tough non-conference loss at home to Northwestern College, while the Falcons were coming off a loss to NCAA Division II Emporia State University. One of the big stories from the contest was that Head Coach Matt Warren did not make the trip due to illness, and Assistant Coach Adam Giger led the Bluejays in his absence.

"I am so proud of our staff and team tonight!", said Warren about the game. "Coach Giger did a terrific job in my absence due to illness. I am so proud and thankful for him. Our number focus was transition defense and the guys did a great job of limiting that. We finally made a few shots down the stretch to get us over the finish line. It wasn't pretty but every win in this league is a hard especially on the road"

The Bluejays got off to a slow start, finding themselves down 16-4 at the 13:07 mark. The slump would not last long as Jaiden Miller would bring the Bluejay men within two points at the 10:26 mark. The teams would continue to trade buckets throughout the first half, and the Falcons would pull ahead by one to lead 28-27 at the break.

Tabor took the chance to start off the second half strong and led by as many as four points. The Falcons would go on a run of their own but would never lead by more than seven. The teams would trade buckets, but the Bluejays would take the lead for good at the 2:12 mark. Kalep Crane would sink two free throws at the end to give Tabor a 63-59 win.

The Bluejays were led in scoring by Thatcher McClure with 14 points, Kenyon Holcombe had 12, and Jaiden Miller had nine. Crane and Jack Voth had eight points, James Aboaba had seven, and Jake Proctor finished with five.

Coach Warren offered some additional insight, "That is a really high powered offense that we went on the road and held under 60 points. We will enjoy this tonight and turn our focus to KWU. They are coming off a huge road win at No. 6 Southwestern so we will have to clean some things up and put our best foot forward on Saturday in Salina"

Coach Giger also had some thoughts on the Bluejays' effort, "Great team win, it was a hard fought conference road win tonight and we will take them any way we can. Our team really locked in defensively tonight as a collective unit and were able to come away with the win."

The Bluejays will be back in action tomorrow night as they travel north to Salina to take on Kansas Wesleyan University. The game will tip off at 7 pm and will be broadcast live on the KCAC NetworkLive stats will also be available for fans to follow along with throughout the game.

Tabor College is a Christ-centered institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas. The Bluejays are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and compete in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC).
