Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Nathan Howard

McCLURE'S HUGE NIGHT LEADS BLUEJAYS TO SECOND STRAIGHT WIN

LINDSBORG, Kan. – The Tabor College Men's Basketball team was back in action on the road tonight, this time heading up north to Lindsborg to face the Bethany College Swedes. The Bluejays were coming off a thrilling overtime win over a tough McPherson College squad on Wednesday night, while the Swedes came in fresh off Southwestern College giving them their eighth loss in a row.

The game would start out with both teams trading buckets, although the Bluejays would work to pull away and would go on to build a ten point lead and go into the halftime break up 46-36. Thatcher McClure led the Bluejays in scoring in the first half, with 15 points, while Jack Voth had 11. Kenyon Holcombe led the team in rebounds, with six, while Kalep Crane led the team in assists, with five.

The Bluejays would come out of the halftime break rolling and were able to build up a 23 point lead by the 14:35 mark. The Swedes would fight to try to find their way back into the game and ended up cutting the Bluejays' lead to nine at the 7:43 mark. Tabor would go on their own run and wouldn't look back, giving Bethany no chance of getting back into the game. The Bluejays would go on to win by 22, 88-66. McClure led the Bluejays in scoring with a dominant 29 point performance. Voth had 17 points, while Holcombe had 11, Jake Proctor had nine, and Crane had six. James Aboaba and Kade Hemmert finished with four points each, while Luke Buckingham and Jaiden Miller each had three, and Kreeland Avery had two.

"Really proud of how our team prepared and executed tonight!", said Head Coach Matt Warren. "The game after an emotional win is always a tough one. I thought we approached practice and tonight with great focus. We haven't seen zone all year so to execute the way the guys did was impressive. We have preached over and over again about sharing the ball so to have 21 assists tonight is a testament to our guys. We had a little bit of a slow start defensively but then we settled in."

Tonight's win puts the Bluejays' win streak at two, and Coach Warren shared his thoughts on that, "I am really proud of this group's commitment to continuing to get better. We will enjoy this tonight but we will be ready to get back to work and start preparing for a really talented Ottawa team on Wednesday night."

The Bluejays will return back to the comforts of home on Wednesday to face Ottawa University. The game will tip off at 8 pm and will be broadcast live on the KCAC Network, as well as the Tabor College YouTubeLive stats will be available for fans to follow throughout the game.
