McPherson, Kan. A dominant display saw the Bluejays cruise past Central Christian 3-0 on Wednesday night. In the first half a goal from sophomore April Ochoa in the 26th minute got Tabor rolling, giving them a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
"It was a game where we controlled much of the ball and got a good look at our creative options," said Head Coach Ian Thomson. Defensively, the Bluejays were solid at the back with senior Kyler Dunham and junior Kylie Bush thwarting any chances from the Tigers.
The second half saw much of the same possession-based soccer with the Bluejays making leaps and bounds throughout the preseason campaign. Goals from senior Payton Eskridge (48th minute) and sophomore Porsha Zweifel (65th minute) wrapped up an impressive road win for Tabor.
Tabor outshot the Tigers 21-10 and 11-5 on shots on goal. Sophomore Raegan King and junior Jami Dooley led the team with four shots, along with three attempts from Zweifel. Freshman goalkeeper Hayley Bench was able to block all five shots on goal.
The Bluejays next game will be Saturday, September 9th against the Hastings College Broncos, with kick-off scheduled for 2:30 pm at Joel H. Wiens Stadium.
Tabor College is a Christ-centred institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas. The Bluejays are members of the NAIA and compete in the KCAC.
